Out of this world! Spacecamp, that is! We spent four days learning all about the space program, astrophysics, shuttles, launch sequence, rocket science, engineering, strength training, gravitational forces, and participating in hands on experiments. Located in Huntsville, Alabama and created by NASA, Spacecamp allows students to learn, hands on, all about the space program and its history. The men and women who have worked for NASA over the years are truly geniuses. The ingenuity is astonishing! We began by learning of the earliest rocket programs and progressed to the shuttle program and moon walking. The kids practiced moon walking on the zero gravity chair, tested their endurance on the gyro-chair, built and launched rockets, participated in a mock launch and reentry procedure, climbed rock walls, rode g-force test wheels, and flew and landed the space shuttle on simulators. Truly an amazing field trip!
